About

The Thomas More Centre

The Thomas More Centre is a training and learning centre for students and young professionals. The Thomas More Centre supports those who are serious about living out their Christian faith in civic life and proclaiming a Christ centered vision to society in the Australian context.

It is inspired by the figure of Thomas More, the English lawyer, social philosopher, author, and statesman. For those entering public life, Thomas More is an excellent figure to emulate. It was More's integrity and strength of character that caused him to pay the ultimate price of his life for his principles. For refusing to take the oath required by the First Succession Act, an oath be believed to be false, he was imprisoned in 1534. He was tried for treason, convicted on perjured testimony and beheaded by King Henry XIII.
